I’m not going to lie: I can be a bit scatter-brained sometimes.
As a fantasy writer, I’ve always got a lot on my mind. Plans for future articles or stories, bits and pieces I need to remember.
These things tend to take up a lot of space in my brain—which means I can forget other important things. Like where I left my wallet.
There’ve been more than a few occasions where I’ve left the house without it or forgotten it at some AirBNB or hotel I was staying at while on vacation.
Luckily, my wife had the brilliant idea to buy me a set of Apple’s AirTags last Christmas. Now, all I need to do is pop open the app on my phone and I can find my missing wallet in seconds.
But first, I had to get a wallet specially made to fit AirTags. I did a deep dive into all the best AirTag wallets on the market, comparing their durability, capacity, function, and user-friendliness.
After reading hundreds of reviews and testing as many as I could get my hands on, I’ve put together a list of what I believe are the best wallets designed specifically to house AirTags.
Built tough using space-grade aluminum and sized to fit up to 12 cards and your AirTag, it’s the most versatile of the AirTag wallets I’ve tested.
This Ekster wallet was the first Air Tag wallet to catch my eye, and the first I tested out. To this day, it’s still my top pick for most versatile and user-friendly.
There’s a lot to love about this Air Tag wallet:
First of all, it’s built using incredibly durable space-grade 6061-T6 aluminum.
Second, it’s sized to fit up to 12 cards and IDs thanks to its expandable backplate. That’s more cards than I’ll ever need to carry, but it’s good to know I’ve got space to spare.
Third, all of the cards are instantly accessible at the click of a button, so I can quickly grab the ID or credit card I need for any situation.
Fourth, it’s got a built-in silicon pocket that cushions and protects my AirTag.
Last, but certainly not least, the RFID blocking keeps my data safe and stops credit card theft.
I’m a big fan of this pop up wallet and continue to use it daily.
Looking for a wallet that’ll match your favorite brown suede boots? If you’re just that classy kind of guy, the LORZOR Leather Air Tag Wallet is my recommendation.
The wallet is made from a soft brown suede, using premium full grain leather that’s waxed for maximum durability without compromising the look and feel of the top-quality cowhide. The more you use it, the more beautiful it will become over time as it patinates.
It’s also nicely functional: space for up to 12 cards in its 10 card slots, an ID window, two cash pockets hidden from sight, a built-in AirTag pocket, and integrated RFID blocking.
Really, it’s just a great-looking, all-around versatile wallet you’ll be glad to carry around town with you.
Okay, so the Nomad Card for AirTag isn’t strictly a wallet—more like an accessory to store your Air Tag safely inside your wallet—but it’s cool enough I thought it deserves a place on this list.
The card is built using a polycarbonate frame with a soft-touch TPU surface that feels smooth and sleek against your fingers, but also provides excellent protection for your AirTag. The snap-in mount geometry makes it brilliantly easy to add or remove the AirTag.
It’s as thick as 10 credit cards, so you’re better off carrying it separately in your bag or backpack, or inside your classic deep leather wallet. But for the most convenient, secure storage solution for your AirTag, it’s a pretty solid choice—and inexpensive to boot.
For the more eco-conscious guy, this vegan leather AirTag wallet by Zitahli is a pretty solid option. The leather won’t be as tough as cowhide, but it’s “greener” and no animals are harmed in the process of making it.
The wallet comes with 10 card slots, including a quick-access slot on the front for your ID or most-used cards. The AirTag pocket on the back keeps your tracker safely secured without interfering with the built-in RFID blocking.
Thanks to its classic billfold design, you’ve got space for cash and a clear ID window, but it’s still thinner and more compact than your classic leather wallet.
Of all the wallets I’ve tested to date, the Dango D01 impressed me most with its durability. It’s made using the same 6061 space-grade aluminum as the Ekster, but it felt sturdier and heavier-duty in my hand without being noticeably heavier.
The precision construction of the CNC-machined aluminum ensures that every time I want to access my cards, it’s easy and smooth to slide them out. The DTEX material secured onto Dango’s unique chassis system adds a nice contrast of texture as well as a degree of water-resistance to protect my cards and AirTag.
With space for up to 10 cards, a silicone band to house the AirTag, RFID blocking, the addition of a built-in bottle opener, and the option to add Dango’s MT02 multitool, it comes in a close second to my top pick—and is 25% cheaper, as well.
What I love about the Ridge wallets is their easy-use design. All I’ve got to do is insert my thumb into the handy groove integrated into the backside, and all my cards slide out the front, easy for me to access. When I’m done, just slide them all right back into place, where they’ll stay securely tucked away and protected inside a tough carbon fiber case mounted onto a steel base.
The metal wallets from Ridge have the option of attaching an AirTag holder, as well as an elastic money clip that lets me carry cash along with my cards. Though it’s slightly thicker than I usually prefer (the result of the optional AirTag storage), the Ridge wallet is still compact enough to fit in my pocket, bag, or EDC pouch.
Spigen card wallets are some of the most masculine-looking on the market. The Wallet S, for example, is made using a sleek, stylish gunmetal exterior that screams “real man” in my opinion. The fact that the metal is tough enough to protect my cards just makes it all the better.
The wallet is packed with handy features, including:
Despite being tough, it’s light enough that I’ll barely feel it in my pocket when I’m racing around town or traveling.
I’ll be the first to admit: I’m a leather guy. I’ve always loved a classy-looking leather wallet. Even now that I mostly carry a card wallet, I’ll opt for leather as often as carbon fiber, gunmetal, or aluminum.
The Typecase Minimalist Wallet for Air Tag is one of the best leather AirTag wallets I’ve found. I’ve found that it’s gorgeous right out of the box, but grows even more beautiful with use as it develops a patina.
It’s also a wonderfully practical wallet, with space for up to 8 cards, a handful of bills, and an AirTag. I particularly like the transparent ID slot so I can show my ID without having to remove it from the wallet.
Best of all, it’s one of the most affordable of all the options I’ve tested to date.
