30 Best Online Men’s Clothing Stores

A careful eye goes a long way in building your wardrobe, as I like to talk about here at WERD, and the best online men’s clothing stores are as fine a starting point as any in matters of style.

I think this holds true whether you’re hunting for one of the best Oxford shirts or putting together a stylish business casual wardrobe.

Whatever your wardrobe (and your heart) desires, the best clothing stores are there for you, any time at all.

Our picks for the best places to browse right now are stores we’ve shopped ourselves over the years, and we don’t intend to stop any time soon.

Broken down by category, here’s where to start your search for the best menswear on the market today.

Essentials & Basics

Buck Mason

Best Known For:  Some of the best T-shirts on the market in a variety of cuts and colors, plus all-American blue jeans.

If ever you wanted a great place to start as you sort through the cluttered world of the best menswear stores, start with Buck Mason. Since the day I found out about the brand, I’ve been a fan of their ethos, and I quickly became a fan of their expertly cut T-shirts, denim shirts and jeans.

The retailer has a rugged, versatile, all-American appeal, from hard-wearing waxed jackets to timeless Oxford shirts, soft basics and perfectly cut jeans.

Taylor Stitch

Best Known For:  Reliable Oxford shirting, cozy flannel shirt jackets, perfectly fitted chinos and (as of late) handsome leather boots.

Some companies start out to perfect one thing – like the button-down shirt – and then grow exponentially from there.

That’s what Taylor Stitch has done, with a modern, fresh take on the classics, be it waxed outerwear, unlined blazers, crisp shirting or cozy flannels. Its chinos and carefully crafted leather shoes are also major hits.

In my experience, Taylor Stitch has only gotten bigger and better: Yes, they still make expertly designed shirts, but the brand launches new styles frequently – and they never seem to miss the mark.

James Perse

Best Known For:  Luxurious updates to everyday staples, from faded denim to super-soft T-shirts, all with a laidback SoCal vibe.

Every guy’s wardrobe can use well-executed basics, and a T-shirt is so much more than just a T-shirt in the hands of James Perse. Here, premium T-shirts are cut in cool silhouettes from textured fabric, and easygoing-yet-polished lounge pants, sweaters and jackets are all sleek future closet staples.

Everlane

Best Known For:  Straightforward shirting and its made-to-be-matched line of “Uniform” staples, plus detailed info on where and how its minimal, subtly stylish clothing is made.

Basic doesn’t have to be boring, as our favorite online clothing stores set out to prove. With a focus on transparent manufacturing and highly accessible prices, Everlane is a modern, sharp one-stop shop, whether you want slim blue jeans, a crisp Oxford shirt or sustainable sneakers.

In fact, Everlane was one of the first brands that caught my eye as I looked for a better (and better-made) everyday shirt, and I’ve also been impressed with the company’s foray into sustainable, retro-minded sneakers.

J.Crew

Best Known For:  Giving guys access to both well-made daily basics and major upgrades to slim suiting, chambray shirts, classic chinos and more.

Among the best menswear retailers on the market, J.Crew stands alone. Few American brands do as much as well as J.Crew does, from rugged chambray shirts to game-changing suiting and a wide array of exclusive partnerships with tried-and-true companies like Alden and Timex.

You truly can get dressed head-to-toe in J.Crew, as I’ve found over the years. At one point, I wore almost exclusively J.Crew menswear, from chinos to broken-in tees and buttondown shirting.

For this menswear writer, there’s scarcely a day that goes by where I’m not wearing at least one J.Crew essential. Whatever you’re searching for, they’ve (likely) got it.

Mott and Bow

Best Known For:  Designer-quality denim at highly agreeable prices, all made from soft, stretchy yet durable fabric.

The idea behind Mott and Bow is simple: Deliver great-fitting, well-made jeans at prices that beat designer offerings.

Mott and Bow has been delivering on that aim for nearly a decade now, and they deliver jeans in cool washes and accessible fits – not to mention super-soft, stylish sweaters, T-shirts and joggers, too. And in the past as I’ve tried on Mott and Bow jeans, I’ve found that the fit and fabric certainly stacks up to much more expensive brands.

Todd Snyder

Best Known For:  Elevated-yet-rugged twists on the classics for the everyday guy, from the chambray shirt to the crewneck sweatshirt to luxurious suiting.

Todd Snyder took years of menswear experience at retailers like J.Crew and Ralph Lauren, then turned that know-how into an award-winning clothing company to rule them all.

In my experience, Todd provides a new way to think about everyday essentials: Even simple staples like the pocket tee, or refined must-haves like the blazer, feel, fit and look better than many brands on the market that retail for more expensive prices.

Todd’s personal touch is seen throughout the line, from classic shirting to sharp tailored suits and rugged-meets-refined partnerships with Champion, P.F. Flyers and a host of other timeless American brands.

Outerknown

Best Known For:  Blending sustainable fabrics with surf-inspired style, from shirt jackets to tees and boardshorts.

A better, more sustainable future is possible, and it’s possible to get there in style, too. It’s hard not to be impressed by the Outerknown mission, as I’ve found from my first day wearing the brand.

Founded by surfing legend Kelly Slater, Outerknown uses upcycled and recycled fibers to craft classic shirt jackets, eco-friendly denim and buttery-soft organic cotton basics, among other fan favorites.

I’ve had the chance to try out the Outerknown Blanket Shirt, and it’s as durable a shirt as it gets, with the potential to be worn as a shirt jacket or all on its own through blustery fall and winter days.

Brooks Brothers

Best Known For:  Putting preppy styles on the map for the everyday modern consumer, not to mention its iconic ties, Oxford shirting and khaki chinos.

Long before the Internet powered the shopping world, there was Brooks Brothers.

The iconic American brand perfected the art of the Oxford shirt and the navy blazer, and helped introduce prep style to the masses. Today, they’ve got much the same aim and they produce truly classic items in plenty of refined categories.

American Giant

Best Known For:  A fierce commitment to domestic manufacturing, which the brand uses to craft one of the hardest-working hoodies on the market.

It’s been said that they don’t make menswear like they used to, but that adage doesn’t hold true if you’re American Giant.

The company is exceptionally proud of its made-in-the-U.S.A manufacturing, and rightfully so. They source American materials and turn them into all-time staples, like its ridiculously well-made Classic Full Zip Hoodie.

Bonobos

Best Known For: A vast selection of the best-fitting chinos on the market, with a massive number of sizes, colors and styles available – not to mention an entire line of complementary menswear for a great #OOTD any day of the week.

The world of men’s pants was once stuffy and uncomfortable, beleaguered by stiff fabrics, too many pleats and not enough pants that simply fit well for most guys.

Original founder Andy Dunn first focused on making the best chinos on the market, and it’s become a Bonobos trademark. Of course, the brand now makes excellent shirting, stylish shorts, versatile outerwear and even Italian tailoring.

Alex Mill

Best Known For:  Fresh updates to daily essentials, like hybrid blazers, elastic-waist chinos and seriously cool shirt jackets and Oxford shirts.

Alex Mill makes clothing that sits right in the middle of a Venn diagram: It’s classic yet cool, it’s grounded in the past yet modern.

Think of it kind of like J.Crew (co-founder Alex Drexler is the son of longtime J.Crew leader Mickey Drexler, after all). Yet, it’s got a seriously fresh twist and is perfect for easygoing chinos, soft henleys, hybrid blazer-chore jackets and vibrant accessories.

Faherty

Best Known For:  Vibrant, coastal-inspired pieces, like sun-faded tees, stretch chinos and its ridiculously soft Legend Sweater Shirt in a wide array of colors and patterns.

Two things sit at the core of Faherty: That’d be family and fabric.

The company is family-owned, with several members playing key roles, and they’ve managed to consistently come up with menswear staples – from flannel shirts to sweaters and chinos – in some of the softest, coolest, just-plain-best fabric on the market. You’ll want to shop there for, well, everything.

Mango

Best Known For:  Perfectly refined yet easygoing modern menswear, from linen shirts to smartly tailored blazers.

In search of a modern, one-stop shop with a contemporary spin for your wardrobe? Mango is going to be your new favorite, with an emphasis on minimal, crisp design and refined style staples that are never out of season (or style).

Outdoor Adventure

Huckberry

Best Known For:  The best selection of tough menswear and outdoor gear on the planet, plus its own line of American-made goods, from T-shirts to that famous Flint and Tinder waxed trucker jacket.

Huckberry captures so much of what makes the online retailer great with just a simple tagline: See You Out There.

I’ve found the brand lives up to that ethos with tough-as-nails gear that’s designed to grow with you and get better with age. Take its waxed trucker jacket: It develops a rich patina the more you wear it, and it’s become a massive hit among fans of the brand.

No matter what you seek – from an outdoor fire pit to a highly functional backpack, a durable adventure watch or a rugged trucker jacket – Huckberry stocks and sells it. They also design their own style staples (think merino tees and warm beanies).

Billy Reid

Best Known For: A strong focus on American classics like the denim shirt and the chino, plus James Bond-approved outerwear.

It’s refreshing to come across a designer that stays true to his roots and designs clothes with everyday guys in mind – not fashion runway models.

Billy Reid’s namesake brand channels modern style through his Alabama headquarters, focusing on rugged-meets-refined pieces like an expertly cut denim shirt, handsome blazers, crisply cut chinos and the famous Bond Peacoat (worn by 007).

UNIQLO

Best Known For: Contemporary-meets-classic menswear at highly affordable prices, starting with socks and boxer briefs, then moving on up to shirting, blazers and outerwear.

Coming across UNIQLO for the first time was something of a revelation for this writer. Here’s a flattering, modern brand making daily must-haves, from subtle T-shirts to stretchy blue jeans and and crisp Oxford shirts.

Oh, and did I mention they make it possible to get dressed from head to toe in UNIQLO without breaking the bank? Talk about one of the best online men’s clothing stores around.

Fair Harbor

Best Known For: Patterned, fun-to-wear and easy-to-style swim trunks and breezy beach basics for guys of all body types.

It’s time to shelve your old swim trunks, which very well might be packed with baggy pockets and a fit that’s not all that flattering. It seems that every guy looks great in Fair Harbor’s line of colorful, vivid swim trunks, which cover a range of cuts and designs to suit every body type. Plus, they also craft mix-and-match beach gear, like henleys and tees.

Filson

Best Known For:  Its long-standing outdoor heritage, plus some of the coolest outdoor menswear and gear around, including its iconic Tin Cloth line of jackets and its adventure-ready duffle bags.

The Filson legacy precedes its name, with the sort of heritage and history you simply couldn’t dream up any better if you tried.

Once an outfitter for Pacific Northwest explorers, Filson still makes gear for outdoor adventures aplenty, from heirloom-quality wool jackets to famed work pants and waxed bags.

Aether Apparel

Best Known For:  A futuristic yet adventure-ready approach to menswear, including technical jackets, pants and basics made for whatever life throws your way.

Aether Apparel is the luxe outdoor solution for the modern man. The company designs everything from moto boots to performance merino henleys with an upgraded sense of go-anywhere style in mind.

These pieces look at home in the field or on your next commute, and they perform even better.

Backcountry

Best Known For:  Instant access to outdoor and adventure staples across a dizzying range of categories, from camping equipment to lightweight rain jackets, EDC gear and much more.

The best online menswear stores should ideally check multiple items off your shopping list, right? Well, what about an online shopping destination that does just about everything when it comes to the best outdoor adventure gear?

That’s Backcountry for you, which can outfit you with hiking boots, rain jackets and camping gear for your next off-grid getaway.

Luxury

Sunspel

Best Known For:  Using its exquisite and long-standing British heritage to make polos and tees worn by none other than James Bond (and the rest of its luxurious basics aren’t half-bad, either).

If 007 himself can trust a menswear brand, it’s a safe bet you can do the same. And long before James Bond wore the Sunspel Riviera Polo in Casino Royale, Sunspel was making some of the most refined sweaters, T-shirts and essentials in all of British (and global) menswear.

Mr. Porter

Best Known For:  Curating menswear with an eye for refinement and serious style, everything from designer sneakers to top-notch tailoring, cologne and outerwear.

Shopping online men’s clothing stores can sometimes feel like researching an investment, which is where Mr. Porter enters the fray.

The global retailer stocks and sells no less than the finest brands on the planet, from Tom Ford suiting and fragrances to Common Projects sneakers and men’s boots.

Streetwear

HBX

Best Known For:  A selection of designer goods and exclusive collaborations from the buzziest streetwear brands on the market.

Hypebeast always has its finger on the pulse of what’s cool, what’s new and what’s next – it makes perfect sense that they’ve translated that knowledge into a seriously buzzy online shop.

Streetwear aficionados and sneakerheads rejoice, because HBX is packed to the brim with the world’s trendiest designer apparel and accessories.

END. Clothing

Best Known For:  Deals and rare, exclusive finds on both classic brands and the biggest, up-and-coming names in athleisure and streetwear.

From tried-and-true brands like Nike to stalwarts like A.P.C. and rugged luxury outfitters like Carhartt WIP, there’s little that END. Clothing can’t help you find.

Pay close attention to its exclusive footwear releases featuring fresh designs from classic retailers like Clarks, or else get a super-sharp graphic tee or an eye-catching jacket.

Activewear

Vuori

Best Known For:  A fresh take on both performance gym gear and athleisure, with styles you can wear to train (like hard-working shorts and tees), along with picks you can wear off-duty (like joggers and polos).

It used to be, workout gear was just workout gear. But the best men’s clothing brands do things just a bit differently, as I’ve found out through wearing Vuori as often as I possibly can.

The California company produces durable yet comfortable performance menswear, from athletic shorts to tees and joggers – most of it is even stylish enough to wear aside from the gym.

The great thing about Vuori menswear is the blend of both stretchy and yet highly durable, moisture-wicking fabric – I’ve found that these aren’t the uncomfortable gym shorts and tees of my youth.

Ten Thousand

Best Known For:  High quality workout clothes utilizing next-gen technical fabrics.

Ten Thousand gear is different compared to mass-market activewear retailers, and it’s a next-level difference you might find astonishing (as I did when first testing out the brand’s line of innovative workout gear).

The company works with ambassadors to test each new product release, resulting in hard-wearing, no-frills workout shorts, shirts, sweatshirts and more, each made with insanely innovative modern fabric in seriously cool designs.

These fabrics stretch yet bounce right back, they’re made for extreme conditions, and the buzzed-about brand has even teamed up with Filson in recent years to bridge the gap between gymgoers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Reigning Champ

Best Known For:  Taking tried-and-true gym basics, like the crewneck sweatshirt, and updating them with better, softer and yet durable fabric — and doing it all with a made-in-Canada mindset.

Your old workout gear just got a major kick in the pants thanks to Canada’s own Reigning Champ.

The company’s made-in-Canada designs might look simple – from raglan-sleeve crewneck sweaters to crisp T-shirts – but the results are anything but basic.

Reigning Champ activewear is exceptionally well-crafted and built to last, workout after workout.

Rhone

Best Known For:  Performance menswear that works hard on the trail, on the links or on your bike ride – or else, on your commute and at the office, be it the brand’s quarter-zip pullovers, breathable polos or tailored performance pants.

Remember what we said about the best men’s clothing stores bringing something different to the table (and your web browser)? Well, Rhone embodies that approach perfectly.

Eye-catching colors and designs meet moisture-wicking, comfortable, performance-minded fabric in everything from joggers to shorts and workout tees.

Tracksmith

Best Known For: Mining the past (like preppy collegiate athletic uniforms) for modern inspiration, then delivering top-notch running and training gear that actually performs well under pressure.

A workout clothing company rooted in the past might sound like a funny thing, no? In this case, Tracksmith looked to throwback running and track gear to inspire its designs – then, they used the finest materials on the planet to get performance and specs just right.

Whether you want blazing-fast running shorts or a stylish yet durable track jacket, you’re a winner from start to finish.
