Michelin Rolls Out Airless, Puncture-Proof UPTIS Tires

The latest development in car tire design comes by way of industry giant Michelin. The airless, puncture proof prototype tire is called UPTIS, for unique puncture-proof tire system. Designed for passenger vehicles, it eliminates the risk of flat tires and blow outs. The design has a second-hand benefit—by reducing the number of tires that need replacement, less material will end up in landfills as tire manufacturing moves towards a more sustainable future. Could be on roads as soon as 2024.
