Steam Deck OLED Brings a Crispy, More Vibrant Gaming Experience to Valve’s Handheld Device

The Steam Deck just got a huge, game-changing upgrade: an integrated OLED screen.

The OLED screen offers a wider P3 color range, peak brightness of 1,000 nits (significantly more than the original 400 nits), and purer blacks.

The screen feels more polished and refined, the games looking crispier, and the contrast significantly better. The increase in refresh rate—from 60 to 90 Hz—also improves the smoothness of gameplay and makes everything feel more real-to-life.

Other improvements to the new OLED model include:

  • Battery life up to 50% longer than the original
  • Charge time of 45 minutes (from 20 to 80%)
  • A more efficient CPU and GPU
  • A lighter construction with better balance and more comfortable feel in your hand
  • Improved haptic feedback on the trackpads and thumbsticks
  • Better heat management
  • Wi-Fi 6E and improved connectivity
  • Improved download speeds (nearly comparable to a PC)

For anyone who loves handheld gaming, this new-and-improved Steam Deck may be the next upgrade to consider.
