Growing up in Japan, I always loved seeing the mighty Japanese castles standing tall and imposing, and touring the interiors to see how the famed samurai warriors and medieval Japanese lived.
None were as fascinating and awe-inspiring as Himeji Castle, also famously called “White Heron Castle”, in Hyōgo Prefecture. Built in 1333, it’s one of the oldest Japanese castles still standing, a UNESCO Heritage Site, and both the most visited and largest of the castles.
Thanks to LEGO’s new set, you can bring the castle—and all the ancient history it represents—into your home. With 2125 pieces, you can replicate all of the castle’s authentic details: turrets, walkways, the uniquely asymmetrical walls, and the castle’s sprawling grounds (including cherry blossom trees and bushes).
As a challenging build aimed at adult LEGO fans, the finished set is an impressive 7.5 in. high, 12.5 in. wide and 10.5 in. deep, large and imposing enough to make a wonderful display piece.
