Being a groomsman is an absolute honor for most guys—after all, everyone at the wedding will see just how important he is to the groom because he's standing at the head of the room rather than sitting down with the rest of the crowd.

The truth is that groomsmen (and the best man in particular) are putting in some serious time and effort for you. Not just planning and pulling off a heck of a bachelor party, but anything else that you need them to help with—or that the bride/maid of honor/bridesmaids rope them into.

It’s definitely worth showing your appreciation with an appropriate gift. Not only is it the well-mannered thing to do, but it’s as much tradition as having a coterie of groomsmen to have your back.

Not sure what to get them? Don’t sweat it!

We’ve compiled a list of the best groomsmen gifts, complete with some truly creative, customizable options that will be unique to your wedding.

I guarantee that once you’ve gone over the list and found the perfect gift, it’ll show your groomsmen that they made the right choice in standing by your side on this, the biggest and happiest day of your life.

Which guys in the wedding party should get a gift from the groom?

The bride makes certain that every woman in the wedding party receives a gift, which means it’s on you, the groom, to make sure that every man in the wedding party receives a gift.

Obviously, the best man and groomsmen are at the top of the list—but that list doesn’t end there. You’ve also go other men doing important tasks, including:

  • The ushers (who play a huge role in keeping things organized and moving)
  • The officiant (who’s instrumental in the entire process)
  • The father (who you owe respect to for raising such a wonderful partner)

Make sure you’ve got a gift handy for all of these important men. Even something small will be a grand (and often unexpected) token of your appreciation.

Should a best man get a nicer gift than the other groomsmen?

Let’s be real: the best man absolutely deserves a nicer gift than the other groomsmen.

Don’t get me wrong, the groomsmen are instrumental in the whole wedding planning/execution process.

But the best man has more responsibility, has put in more time, effort, and probably money, too. He organized and pulled off a heck of a bachelor party, and he’s been there by your side the entire journey.

When it comes time to give gifts, the best man should always receive something a bit more special than the groomsmen—a physical representation of why you chose him as the "BEST" man over all the other important men in your life.

How much should I spend on a groomsmen gift?

For the best man, shoot for no less than $100. You want to give him a meaningful gift, something that shows how much you appreciate him for everything he’s done—not just during the wedding process, but over all your years as best buds/siblings. Investing a little more ensures you get him a truly next-level gift.

For the groomsmen, expect to spend $50 to $75 per man. That’s neither overly expensive nor overly cheap, just the right "sweet spot" to get them awesome gifts they’ll love.

When do you give groomsmen their gifts?

It’s customary to give the groomsmen their gifts on your wedding day, while you’re getting ready. They’ll all be there with you, supporting you (and keeping away any last-minute wedding jitters/cold feet). That’s the best time to give them the special gifts you got for them, to show how grateful you are for their support.

Should I send a thank you note to groomsmen after the wedding?

It’s the well-mannered thing to do!

The groomsmen, best man, wedding ushers, officiant, parents/parents-in-law, and anyone else who helped to make your wedding day special deserve to be appreciated, and a thank-you note is expected from both the bride and groom.
